Bumper Cars

Wow! What a morning! This morning around 8:00 am Heather called me. Normally, when Heather is working a night shift, she doesn't call in the morning because she gets home about the time we are leaving for school or if it is a Saturday, we are sleeping late. So when the phone rang, I wasn't sure what was going on. I wasn't too alarmed though due to the fact that just recently I was awakened from a deep sleep by a phone call.

It seems that the day after Thanksgiving is some sort of big shopping day. Most ladies will take the effort to wake up at 4am or earlier just to go shopping for Christmas gifts. One of those teenage shoppers who had been up since the wee hours of the morn decided to call me about 6am to see what my kids wanted for Christmas. Here is a hint...my kids don't want a thing at 6am. Call me at 10 and I'll let you know.

Back to this morning. Heather called and said she had been "in a little accident." I woke the kids up got them dressed and out the door and then I headed off to the scene. I arrived to find my wife safe and relatively unharmed. It seems as if she had hydroplaned on the interstate and began spinning causing another car to hit her twice. Both cars were undriveable and both drivers with okay.

After taking care of the insurance stuff and having time to sit back and think about what happened, I am so grateful to the Lord for having his hand of protection on Heather. Easily, this wreck could have turned out much worse. My mind has raced all day about how this will affect us financially and otherwise and I almost feel guilty for even thinking this way when the main thing is that my wife is safe.

When you see the pictures of the two cars involved in this "little accident" you'll notice that it looks as if the cars were in two different wrecks. Heather's car seems to have minor damages, while the other is likely totaled. Some would say it is the difference in make and model of car. I say my God protects.
